Amer Sports is seeking a motivated and skilled Manager, Technical Accounting to join our finance team in Amer Sports’ office in New York City, NY. This position is essential for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting processes within the organization. This position involves researching and analyzing complex accounting issues, implementing new accounting standards, and providing guidance on technical accounting matters.

What you will be doing:

• Research, analyze and document accounting conclusions under IFRS Accounting Standards/US GAAP for complex or non-routine transactions (e.g., leases, revenue recognition, capitalized software, derivatives, business combinations, share-based payments, impairment).
• Draft and maintain technical accounting policies, memos and group accounting manuals under IFRS (and US GAAP where applicable).
• Monitor new and proposed accounting standards to assess their impact and lead implementation and training across the group.
• Collaborate with brand controllers and other business partners, including FP&A, Treasury, Tax, and Legal on the accounting implications of contracts, financing and restructuring.
• Support the accounting close process, consolidation and external reporting, including review of disclosures and technical areas of the financial statements.
• Document and/or review the accounting treatment for intercompany, capital structure and debt/equity transactions.
• Strengthen internal controls over technical areas and maintain internal controls support in compliance with SOX requirements
• Train and coach finance colleagues on policy and standards; mentor junior team members.
• Contribute to process improvement and automation initiatives within the accounting function.
• Act as the main point of contact for external auditors on technical matters, including responding to queries and supporting audit evidence.

What you need to succeed:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
• CPA (or equivalent, e.g. CA or ACCA) required.
• 5-7 years of progressive accounting experience, including experience in a complex multinational organization
• Big 4 public accounting experience required
• Deep familiarity with IFRS and ability to interpret and apply accounting guidance
• Experience with SOX compliance and group reporting in a public company context.
• Technical accounting excellence combined with the ability to operationalize policy into practical process.
• Audit or advisory background serving large, publicly traded or pre-IPO global companies strongly preferred.
• Exceptional collaboration, communication, and influencing skills; proven track record building trust and alignment across brands, geographies, and functions.
• Experience with AI tools (Claude or Copilot)
• Strong organizational instincts and the ability to bring structure and clarity to ambiguous or evolving situations.
• Comfortable operating in a high-growth, transformation-oriented environment with multiple concurrent priorities.
• High integrity, sound professional judgment, and an ownership mindset.

A reasonable estimate of the annual pay range is $130,000 – $160,000 at the time of this posting. Within the range, individual pay is determined by factors such as job-related skills, relevant experience, education, geographic location, and/or training. Please note that the range reflects the base pay only and does not include our competitive bonus program.
