You will play a key role in setting the technical direction for monitoring and observability across the organization, establishing standards and best practices that improve operational reliability, accelerate issue detection, and support data-driven decision making. Working closely with global IT teams, you will help ensure that our systems remain stable, scalable, and transparent as Amer Sports continues its technology transformation.
What you will be doing:
Enterprise Observability Architecture
- Define and maintain a coherent, enterprise‑wide Observability architecture, covering metrics, logs, traces, application performance monitoring, and end‑user experience monitoring.
- Establish architectural patterns and reference designs to ensure consistent, scalable, and high‑quality telemetry across all layers of the digital ecosystem.
- Define long‑term architecture roadmaps aligned with global IT strategy and technology transformation initiatives.
- Ensure observability capabilities enable proactive detection, fast diagnosis, and continuous improvement of service reliability.
Standards, Governance & Adoption
- Establish and enforce standards for instrumentation, tagging, naming conventions, baselines, dashboards, and alerting patterns.
- Define and maintain the Observability governance model, including decision frameworks, onboarding standards, and compliance requirements.
- Deliver reusable templates, guidelines, and best practices to support consistent adoption across domains.
- Promote observability maturity and data‑driven operational practices across engineering and operations teams.
Platform Ownership & Evolution
- Own the Observability platform roadmap, operating model, and architectural evolution.
- Ensure data quality, retention policies, access control, and platform performance in line with internal security and compliance standards.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimize coverage, reliability, and cost efficiency.
- Evaluate new observability technologies and capabilities to guide future platform enhancements.
Service Health, Alerting & Reliability
- Define service health models, dependency maps, and reliability indicators such as SLIs and SLOs.
- Set alerting strategies and standards, including severity models, routing, escalation, and noise reduction.
- Oversee the design and evolution of service dashboards and operational reporting.
- Analyze trends in telemetry and alerting data to identify systemic reliability improvement opportunities.
Cross‑Functional Collaboration
- Collaborate closely with Infrastructure, Cloud, Network, Security, Application, and Regional Operations teams to ensure consistent implementation of observability standards.
- Lead observability forums and working groups to align stakeholders on architecture and best practices.
- Support service onboarding and major incidents by ensuring full visibility and identifying monitoring gaps.
- Act as a trusted architectural advisor for observability‑related topics across the organization.
What you need to succeed:
