JOB MISSION:  

The DTC Inventory Accountant will be responsible for inventory control and analysis across our EMEA DTC business. The individual will play an important role across the whole of DTC, supporting both Retail and Digital channels ensuring accurate data and reporting, alongside assisting with inventory controls and risk management. 

MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES: 

Financial Accounting 

  • Perform the month end inventory reconciliation in both the Retail ERP and Financial ERP system. 

  • Perform month end Goods-in-transit and inventory balance sheet account reconciliations across DTC. 

  • Lead the year end procedures related to inventory within the Retail ERP, working with the world-wide team to define process and timelines, alongside periodic reviews throughout the year. 

  • Responsible for external audit inventory requests across EMEA Subsidiaries. 

  • Year-end calculation of inventory provisions across DTC. 

Forecasting and inventory planning 

  • Responsibility for preparing and submitting the Retail Inventory financial forecast. 

  • Working alongside the DTC planning team to assist with DTC inventory forecasting. 

  • Assist the DTC Financial Controller with the review of EMEA DTC inventory, providing accurate information to assist in the inventory buy, as well as identifying risks and opportunities. 

Financial Reporting and analysis 

  • Distribution of month end and forecast DTC inventory reporting, variance analysis and KPIs to relevant collaborators. 

  • Monthly shrinkage reporting. 

  • Ad hoc inventory reporting and analysis as needed. 

Risks, compliance and controls 

  • Finance lead for retail inventory count activities, working alongside the operations team and external auditors to coordinate inventory counts and finalise results within the ERP. 

  • Lead the inventory count review meetings, delivering detailed analysis to collaborators to identify areas of risk and improvement.  

  • Working alongside management, loss prevention and retail store associates to improve data integrity by establishing best in class controls for inventory receipt, movement and corrections within the Retail ERP. 

  • Through reporting and analysis, actively review for areas of risk working with collaborators, providing insights for resolutions and store control improvements. 

  • Work alongside the EMEA Operations team to optimise inventory processes and controls, as well as reporting and accounting within the Financial ERP. 

Other 

  • Management of one direct report. 

  • Collaboration with IT team to improve tracking, reporting and automation. 

  • Inventory finance lead for all OMNI channel initiatives. 

REQUIREMENTS FOR SUCCESS: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance. 

  • Post qualified (ACA/ACCA/CIMA or equivalent) with a financial accounting background. 

  • Experience with a Retail ERP is valuable but not essential.  

  • Excellent Excel skills. 

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills. 

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills. 

  • Professional and confident with an ability to work with all levels of the organization.
