JOB MISSION: 

 

The Retail Operations Lead plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth functioning of retail operations. Reporting to the Retail Operations Manager, this individual will be a key support to the regions for the implementation of operational procedures and will interface with the entire retail division within DTC.  

The Retail Operations Lead will oversee the deployment of all store systems to facilitate better operational processes. Ideal candidates will have extensive experience in an operational environment and are looking to advance to a leadership position within Retail. Key qualities include strong leadership skills, the ability to work independently, and a proven track record of leading a team to success. 

 

MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES: 

  • Build Relationships: Develop credible and effective working relationships across the wider business to facilitate smooth retail operations. 

  • Embody Core Values: Uphold and drive New Balance’s core values of total customer satisfaction, teamwork, and integrity throughout the retail business. 

  • Global Operating Standards: Review and align global operating standards. 

  • Standardize SOPs: Implement best practices and create a path towards regional and global process consistency. 

  • Performance Evaluation: Identify what is working, what isn’t, and what is missing. 

  • System Support and Implementation: Provide OMNI and store system support, oversee the implementation and adoption of new systems (e.g., Gift Card 2024, Endless Aisle). 

  • Store System Expert: Become the store system expert and ambassador. 

  • Audit and Process Review: Review current store visits (audits) and ensure a sustainable process aligned with operational needs. 

  • Operational Performance: Identify key areas to ensure proper operational performance across all stores. 

  • Audit Analysis: Develop audit cadence and analyze results. 

  • Communication Process: Evaluate current communication processes. 

  • Collaboration: Collaborate with the Operations Manager to align business needs. 

  • Team Leadership: Lead a team of operations specialists. 

REQUIREMENTS FOR SUCCESS: 

  • Demonstrated experience in retail store operations across multiple stores. 

  • Purposeful and passionate leader, with good judgement, ability to make sound decisions, take accountability, and drive self and others to succeed. 

  • Enthusiasm and passion for retail and in-store life, with the ability to identify quick wins and push for the improvement of stores. 

  • Ability to prioritise workload, plan effectively, and manage multiple tasks with strong attention to detail. 

  • Highly collaborative approach, with excellent communication and influencing skills for partnership working. 

  • Capable of working in a constantly evolving environment and leading any necessary changes within retail stores. 

  • Ability to work with stores both remotely and on-site. 

  • Willingness and ability to travel within the UK and Europe. 

  • Fluency in English is essential; proficiency in other European languages is advantageous. 

  • Strong operational background is desired. 

  • Proven leadership skills and management experience.
