JOB MISSION:

The Regional HR Manager, Europe will provide and ensure operational HR leadership, support, compliance, and consistency across 15 countries in Europe. Through managing a team remotely and in person across Europe, ensuring we are operating legally and competitively in each country with the aim of building a high performing, highly engaged organisation. This will be across both retail and corporate, and in line with the HR Strategy.

MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Provide HR operational leadership, support, compliance and consistency across the 15 countries in Europe where New Balance operate.
  • Streamline processes and systems to improve ways of working, driving efficiency and scalability as our business grows.
  • Be the overall point of contact for all HR operations escalation matters in all countries.
  • Lead the HR management and advisory team across Europe both remotely and in person through 1-1’s.
  • Ensure the team comply with employment legislation in all countries we operate ensuring consistent, fair, and accurate application.
  • Lead team regular meetings and ensure strong communication within the team.  
  • Promote team development and cross-skilling within the team.
  • Work collaboratively with the matrix managers of the HR team – Country Managers/Directors in each country. 
  • Carry out research into best practice for HR and develop HR policies and procedures, ensuring consistency in application and practice across the organisation.
  • Provide and communicate clear policies and practices on all key employment matters.
  • Lead and oversee HR and cross-functional European projects.  
  • Work in partnership with wider HR team to develop programmes which enhance associate engagement including Talent Development, Reward, Internal Communications and Talent Acquisition. 
  • Support the ongoing People Pay Performance process. 
  • Work with Talent Development and Talent Acquisition to support Talent Management processes.
  • Encourage and develop a culture of learning and development. 
  • Oversight of HRIS (Workday), ensuring data is accurate, supporting and sharing knowledge across the team.  
  • Utilise HRIS to drive decision making and provide management information.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with global HR team, local/regional/global stakeholders and external partners.
  • Champion DE&I, community connection and wellbeing activities. 
  • Be a role model for NB values and behaviours, an ambassador for the HR function and able to bring new associates into our culture.

REQUIREMENTS FOR SUCCESS:

  • Experience in a similar HR management role working across several European countries.
  • Experience managing a remote team is critical.
  • Comprehensive working knowledge of local employment laws in Europe across several countries. 
  • Experience working in a regional and matrix business.
  • Outstanding communication, collaboration, influencing skills at all levels across the business.
  • Efficient decision maker – being solutions focused and takes accountability for decisions made.
  • Proactive self-starter, assertive, resilient, and tenacious.
  • Highest levels of integrity and professional credibility.
  • Energy, drive, positive outlook and willing to take on new challenges. 
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Office including Microsoft Excel. 
  • HRIS experience, Workday experience is desirable.
  • Willing and able to travel.
