MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Manage quality control in process for the assigned are of responsibility and follow up with improvements for those quality / manufacturing issues found during line audits.
- Conduct OIB audit, daily/weekly analysis to ensure product quality consistently meets NB standards.
- Randomly check that incoming Materials, Components & Finished Shoe tests meet NB standards.
- Identify quality improvement opportunities and implement quality initiatives. Support sourced factory quality project implementation and documentation of policies / best practices stemming from projects.
- Monitor product delivery /on-time status by eliminating quality issues before they cause delays.
- RSL control: Conduct audit based on OIB to ensure all chemicals are 100% compliant with NB CIL
- Participate in production trials for all assigned new styles. Work with PCE to ensure all pending issues related to quality being fixed before mass production.
- Drive the production team of the supplier factory to take initiative in making continuous improvements for quality and productivity through optimizing processes, such as tools and gauges, etc.
- Work with the factory team for 6S and Lean management improvement.
- Work with suppliers to complete detailed inspection reports, 8D reports for Issue Resolution, and reports for management on quality trends including defect rates and corrective actions.
MAIN COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:
- Technical Professional – Has technical knowledge to find potential quality issues and drive to solve them in the production trial stage. Understands various footwear constructions, materials, processes.
- Attention to Detail – Good eye for product: Ability to identify defects in the product an classify them according to NB standards (minor/major, B/C grades)
- Good communication skill – Able to communicate with any needed stakeholders (regardless of their position or department) to solve problems.
- Process control mindset – Actively involved in ensuring process capability at an early stage instead of focusing only no finished products at the SI stage
- Integrity and Teamwork – Focus on facts & data/ Objectively treat /solve /report any quality Issues. Collaboratively solve issues with supplier for mutual benefit
- Personal responsibility – Take strong personal responsibility to own and execute assignments without the need for close supervision.
REQUIREMENTS FOR SUCCESS:
- At least 6 years of work experience in the quality- related function of footwear industry, including at least 3 years in the quality auditing area
- Bachelor’s degree (preferable)
- Good oral and written English (preferable)
- Conversant with MS office
- Solid hands-on experience in quality system maintenance, preferably with knowledge in 6 Sigma, Lean, ISO9001, etc.;
- Good project management skills with experience in participating in quality improvement projects
- Strong process control mindset and ability to work independently
- Strong communication skills
- English Language skills preferred
- Good interpersonal skills to enable effective cross-functional teamwork
