Job Description
As the Director of Retail for Salomon North America, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and leading the future of Salomon’s retail presence. This is a unique opportunity to spearhead the growth of our retail strategy, ensuring alignment with Salomon’s purpose of enabling people to play, progress, and connect with nature through premium outdoor gear and experiences.
This role requires a dynamic, highly collaborative leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment, balances strategic vision with hands-on execution, and works cross-functionally with global teams in France and regional partners in Ogden, Utah. As a key liaison across markets, you’ll align North America retail with global brand, product, and operational counterparts to drive seamless execution and bold growth.
Reporting to the President & General Manager – Americas, you will oversee the development and execution of retail strategies, from store operations to customer experience, while fostering a culture of innovation, accountability, and performance.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Retail Operations & Growth
- Build the foundation of the retail program, including store operations and omnichannel consumer experiences.
- Drive revenue and oversee the expansion of physical store locations, including scouting locations, securing real estate, and managing lease agreements.
- Partner cross-functionally with global teams in France and regional teams in Ogden, Utah to align on retail strategies, product assortment, operational processes, and brand initiatives.
- Develop tailored store plans and objectives specific to individual markets.
- Oversee daily store performance to achieve growth targets and KPIs.
Leadership & People Development
- Act as a natural people developer, identifying and nurturing future leaders to build a high-performing team.
- Develop and implement training programs to support a world-class retail experience for customers.
- Cultivate a culture of high performance, accountability, and alignment with Salomon’s purpose and values.
Community Engagement
- Lead the growth of community partnership programs to integrate Salomon into new markets.
- Build and execute community market plans and initiatives to set standards for future brand efforts.
Merchandising & Strategy
- Guide stores through innovative product merchandising, allocation, and replenishment processes to optimize sales and productivity.
- Shape annual budgets, strategic planning initiatives, and store-opening processes.
Immediate Objectives
In the first 12-18 months, the Director will:
- Successfully launch and establish the profitability of new Salomon retail stores, building a strong foundation for future growth.
- Achieve annual sales and growth targets by executing a cohesive retail strategy that supports Salomon’s direct-to-consumer expansion.
- Develop and implement best practices for store openings, creating scalable processes to support rapid expansion in the coming years.
- Build and nurture a pipeline of high-performing retail leaders, equipping the organization with the talent required to support long-term growth.
- Develop community engagement and market activation plans to integrate Salomon stores into new regions and foster a strong connection with outdoor enthusiasts.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, ABILITIES & COMPETENCIES

Experience & Skills
- 10-15 years of experience leading cross-functional and integrated retail teams, ideally in a global multi-category brand with both performance and lifestyle product lines.
- Proven track record of leading a retail organization through rapid, successful growth, including store expansion and omnichannel integration.
- Expertise in U.S. real estate with a deep understanding of market nuances, consumer demographics, and opportunities for expansion in key metropolitan and outdoor lifestyle markets.
- Strong knowledge of the retail and digital landscape, including emerging trends, consumer behavior insights, and innovations across performance and sportstyle categories.
- Demonstrated ability to balance strategic oversight with hands-on operational execution, ensuring both big-picture goals and day-to-day excellence are achieved.

Additional Information
Salary Range:
At the time of this posting, the estimated salary pay range is from $160,000 USD to $190,000 USD. Individual pay within this range will be determined based on factors such as job-specific skills, relevant experience and training.
Please note that the mentioned pay range represents the base pay only and does not include our competitive bonus program and benefits package.
